Trio was a staple in my diet while living in San Antonio. Never had a bad experience there. The ingredients were always fresh, service was fast, and prices quite reasonable.

Trio had great food. Gyro was delicious. I got sweet potato fries with my meal, and they were made fresh as was the bread that comes with the meal. Will definitely come again!

I hesitate to give 3 stars and would give 3 1/2, if possible. I'll explain why in my review. This was the first time I've ever eaten Mediterranean food. I didn't realize beforehand it was cafeteria style, and it reminded me of the way Subway is set up. I met a friend there for lunch, and she explained how to order. There's a menu of ingredients on a big menu at the beginning of the buffet line. The choices are pocket, bowl or wrap style. A pocket is their bread stuffed full of whatever toppings you ask for. The bowl is the same thing with their bread on the side. Nobody explained what a wrap is, and since neither my friend or me ordered one, I''m still not sure what they use to wrap with. I ordered a bowl and my friend got a pocket. I choose rice for my bowl foundation; different types of lettuce are also available. The roasted meat assortment offered were good, with choices of chicken, beef, pork and gyros. There weren't many cheese choices, all I saw was feta cheese. I am not familiar with Mediterranean vegetables, other than hummus, olives, red cabbage, and the employee who put our order together seemed uninterested in explaining or assisting in any way. Since we made it a point to arrive at 11:30, before the lunch rush, the restaurant had only two other customers there. The employees had plenty of time to spare, but I had to rely on my friend to help me with ordering.
There were probably a dozen vegetables to pick from with three types of hummus. After seeing that a bowl comes with a good sized piece of Greek bread, my friend said, "If I'd known that I would have ordered a bowl!" The selection of cream soda was different and I enjoyed the vanilla cream I chose. Trio offers alcohol but nobody was at the small bar. My bowl was ok, I think it could have been much better if I'd been given suggestions on what vegetables to add to it. The hummus was bland, I wished I'd ordered the spicy. The bowl was large and I liked the roasted meat. I couldn't eat all of my food, maybe half and took the rest home. We stayed there chatting for almost two hours and Trio had very little lunch business. If they'll vamp up the service with employees who explain what different medleys of vegetables are, etc., and hire people with some enthusiasm, it could be a better restaurant. I liked that it's not expensive, it was $25 for two people, including drinks.

Good overall experience. This is a “build your own” salad, pita, roll-up, fries, etc. kind of place. Loved the Stubborn brand draft sodas. “Build your own” is awesome if you know what tastes great together but not as good if you don’t have a clue. I built my own pita, and the combination I chose wasn’t the best. My suggestion for the owner is to have a list of some tried and true combinations (things that taste great together) on the wall by the menu for newcomers.
