The owner was exceptionally friendly. When I asked to substitute the rice for a more diabetic friendly option he was more than happy to accommodate me by serving an excellent salad with cucumber sauce instead. The food was to die for and I definitely didn’t leave hungry.
When I asked for additional cucumber sauce it was an extra dollar but since I only had a card he said I could just pay for it next time I come. Great business model.
I'm not familiar enough with halal cuisine to leave a detailed review. I've only been to four or so halal restaurants in total. However, I can say that I like the cuisine. What's not to like? Well seasoned meat with herbs and spices on sticks that get grilled over fire!
This place is closer to where I live than all the other places I've been to. With that being said, this is the second best place overall from the four I've tried. The only thing I did not like as much about this place was the rice. I thought the rice wasn't flavorful enough.
I had the lamb and beef skewers with the rice and flat bread. The skewers were well seasoned, fill of herbs and spices, and had an amazing grilled smell and flavor.
However, being from an Asian background, I wanted the rice to contribute more to the meal. I just didn't see the contribution of the rice in this plate. The rice was a bit dry, even though the seasoning seemed like it was mostly from butter. Dry long grain rice with butter is the last thing I want when I'm having food.
Most American or other cultures don't put so much emphasis on the rice in a meal, because it's a side. That's why I'm giving the place 5 stars. The main course is still an amazing experience.
Also, I'm kind of torn about the decoration. I like the fountain in the middle of the restaurant, because it makes me feel like I'm eating on the street, almost. But man, is a fountain in the middle of the room the ultimate tackiness or is that just me?
The food here is excellent. If you have never had Mediterranean or Turkish food, this is the place to try it. Any of the rice plates are good sized portions and I almost always have leftovers. The tea is the cherry on top of the meal. They brew it there and it has a nice cardamon flavor that you can't get anywhere else. Highly recommend.
One of my top places for Persian food. Stopped in on a Monday I think. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service. It has a good interior. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I loved.
Very clean establishment. Food is fresh and very huge portions. I had the lamb platter and my boyfriend the beef platter. I have to say his is seasoned perfectly. My lamb was under seasoned, but it was tender and juicy. Will definitely come back.
