Black's Barbecue

This place is famous, so I drove almost two hours to eat there. I was definitely impressed with the flavor of their BBQ, this is definitely one of the best places I have ever eaten BBQ at, and I have been in many BBQ places around Texas and Oklahoma. I will definitely go out of my way to come back and I will definitely recommend it to everyone.

Great food! Friendly and helpful staff, plenty of parking, nestled right off the Lockhart downtown square. Several antique and local shops nearby to walk off the extra slice if pie. They offer brisket, chicken, sausage, ribs. All the sides and plenty of desserts. Worth the drive.

I've been looking for a good barbecue place for a while and these people did not disappoint. They had great staff and even found me the best cuts of lean brisket that I enjoy the most and did not fight me about it like other places. Their sides were also very good and I do love their peach cobbler. All in all if you're looking for a great atmosphere an even better food and service I recommend this place.

This was a destination trip today just for good BBQ. About 25 min south from Austin. Downtown Lockhart TX a few blocks from the Caldwell County Square/Courthouse. We were not disappointed. Tasty and tender beef brisket. Tons of sides to pick from. I grabbed some sausage and ribs to go. Very casual as you would expect. Stand in line to pick your sides and see your meats carved. Self seating in booths or massive picnic tables. Adult beverages are available. Kid friendly. May be tough for someone in a wheelchair to negotiate the front walk/steps and doorway.

4 of 5 stars, only because I only tried a few items on the menu. I ate some Brisket, Pork Ribs, Banana Pudding and Pecan Pie Cobbler. Upon first taste of the Brisket, it was very Dry and SALTY! (Go with the fatty cut vs the lean cut) The Owner brought over some of the moist brisket, and it was a world of difference! The pork ribs were cooked well, and had a good taste. I love banana pudding, so that was an easy YES... but I wanted to try the pecan cobbler, and it was very good. So, if in the area, stop by, I'm sure you will enjoy the food!
