The place is great and very nostalgic anime-ish/Japanese setting. You do have to wait to be seated, but the staff were very friendly and understanding to those who were first- timers. We tried the Matacha Colada which favors those who like sweet drinks and the Kishimoto cocktail which has a rich smokey mezcal favoring. We also started off with the Gyoza appetizer, which come in 5 pieces, because it was one of the top recommendations. It was a great choice to start off with. Though the ramen selection seems limited, you can substitute the protein out for another to try with the different broths. We finished off with the Japanese Cake, which apparently looked too delicious because everyone digged in before I could take the photo. It's as the server said, it's like a fluffy Cake drizzled with a cream sauce and vanilla ice cream on the side with strawberries. Everything was so tasty and would go again. Kow this, that it is a restaurant that favors quality over quantity for a moderate price.
Great atmosphere, good service! This was definitely not authentic ramen, ground pork was literally that! It looked like it came right out of the plastic bag, right into the frying pan then into the bowl. The broth was ehh, the dumplings looked like they were bought already made (frozen) the edamame was the highlight of the night! When I asked for dessert, waitress said they only had lemon cheesecake (it was literally warm) 🤦🏽♂️. My cocktail was really good, but it was $10 for a small drink. 😑
Great place for Japanese Ramen in the RGV area! A perfect addition to downtown Brownsville. Relaxed atmosphere with lots of great murals on the walls. Friendly and fast service; casual wooden tables and benches; clean; and now serving alcohol, including Sake and Japanese beer. Fair prices, upbeat conversation, and hip dining music. Note: they DO have Vegan Ramen that is not listed on the menu!! Also checkout the daily and happy hour specials.
This place is definitely a hit! Food tastes great and the atmosphere gives that "downtown restaurant" vibe that you would expect from a place like this. Although service is adequate and the tables could use some rearrangement, the food makes up for it and really brings this place together. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!
Coming from someone who has live in Japan for the last 3 years, Kuyahi Ramen is an awesome place to get introduced to Japanese Ramen! A distinctly Japanese style but with some familiar, local flavors thrown in! The location and ambiance work well for everything date night to family dinner. Cannot recommend it enough!
