I wish I got a picture of the food but man you can smell that smoked goodness from up road! The brisket is rockin and so are the ribs and chicken! I had the rice and beans for sides and a bacon wrapped jalapeño and I was SATISFIED! Everything slaps and the vibe is great! Owners are super cool and the staff is very friendly.
I from Chicago visiting for a few months and i just wanna give Pit Stop a BIG THUMPS UP, because I’ve tasted good brisket from Chicago IL, Arizona, Miami, McAllen TX and a few parts of Georgia, I gotta admit that Pit Stop brisket tastes better than everybody brisket that i mentioned even Chicago’s. The way i recognized Pit Stop’s barbecue is that i ate it while it was cold and it STILL MELTED IN MY MOUNT OMG 😱😳
OMG this is the best BBQ brisket in the area. We visit each year for the Rio Grande Bird Festival and this has always been a MUST lunch stop. Today did not disappoint - they said they are currently under new ownership- so we wondered if our favorite place would change- but they delivered on all levels, excellent food, excellent service, great value. You need to try this place - SO good. 5 stars 🌟 🌟 ⭐️ 🌟 🌟
Friendly service. Dining room closed, had outdoor picnic tables. Brisket tacos good, very lean, but pit stop tacos hid the brisket flavor.
First time trying this place out, I had heard from friends it was pretty good so we decided to give it a chance.
The parking lot is pretty big, so you park and order at the window(or call ahead) they have a picnic area where you can eat or wait for your food.
We ordered the carnivore plate which consists of 1lb of brisket, 2 small sides, 1 sausage, 1 jalapeño bomber and a choice of 1 lg drink or 2 small(we opted for 2 and they were canned sodas) and chose corn on a cob & Ranchero beans for the sides. We also ordered extra bombers and 1/2 a lb of ribs(I forgot to take a pic).
So my favorite were the bombers! They were filled with a blend of cheeses including cream cheese, brisket and wrapped with bacon...they were really good!
The Ranchero beans were good and they had a kick to them.
The brisket was pretty good, some pieces had more fat than meat, but it was very moist i just wish it had a heavier smokey taste. The bbq sauce was sweet and thick.
The ribs were good, they smelled and tasted great.
My least favorite was the sausage, it tasted like it had been boiled or cooked in the oven.
Overall not bad will probably be back for some bombers.
