Taco Bueno

Clean great place. First time there

It's kind of tragic how much this chain has declined in the past few years. Prices have gone up dramatically, food quality has taken a solid hit. For example, the Muchaco often comes in an obviously stale/left out too long tortilla/wrapper. Tacos are frequently broken in the bag when you get them, as they are thinner/flimsy compared to what they used to be. Other ingredients have taken a cost-cutting blade to them. Portions are sometimes laughably poor.

I never thought I'd say this, but back in the day, Bueno was always head and shoulders above Taco Bell, which served stuff that could barely be called 'food'. Prices were good, food was fresh and well portioned. Bell has improved a good bit during the last twenty years, and I'd put them as pretty similar now, with Bell slightly ahead overall, especially on the value front.

Don't do Beuno, go literally anywhere else, ideally an independent local Mexican restaurant. It's worth it. Because at the prices Bueno wants for fast food, you can get much better going to the real deal.

Tried the black bean burrito with chicken. Pretty good but beans were a little too liquid.

Closets to authentic Mexican food for a fast food restaurant. Definitely going back.

Mexican fast food between Taco Bell and Taco Cabana. Always very good but never great.
