Wow, the jalapeño poppers are amazing, best I’ve ever had. Brisket and ribs are juicy and fall of bone. Might be best bbq I have had anywhere.
Very friendly atmosphere and great food. There is a little market right next door that has some goodies as well!
Brisket tacos were delicious!
Mar 30, 2018 My weekly run for milk at Stahlman's definitely satisfies my Q habit with Bear Creek BBQ. Today's I ordered a half pound of moist brisket, couple slices of white bread and one TXXL jalapeno popper(I think that's how he labels them).
This is the way I like BBQ, brisket in a white bread taco. Mmm. Being early today, I got the first cuts off the moist end. My half pound came out in a couple of small cuts from the edge, then two full 3/8" thick cuts. Sorry, no pics, I left the phone in the car. These edge pieces with the maximum smoke are really over the top fabulous. Searching for this flavor is why I'm a BBQ addict. Then fold over a slice so it fits the bread. Wonderfully moist brisket, no sauce required. But their sauce is great, so for a couple of bites I dip. So, after my two "tacos" and the first edge cut, I'm stuffed. Wrap up the rest and head back to the house.
Two hours later and that other edge slice is calling out to me. Practically melt in your mouth tender and so much smokey goodness. Hopefully I've got my fix till next week. The popper gets saved till my wife gets home.
And on to the popper. Wow, Bob's managed to infuse more smoke into this than even the beef rib. Chopped brisket & cream cheese, stuffed into a large jalapeno wrapped in bacon and smoked for who knows how long. Yeah, this is the new popper standard. Get here early, when he has them, they sell out fast. 5***** for the poppers.
Mar 24, 2018 So, after I got home, Bob posted the giant beef rib photos. I'm back today to try one. Another home run in my book, but my wife thought it was too smokey. Anyway, we ate on it, then did it again that evening, then me and two guest finished it off the next day.

I had the ribs today. They're baby backs. I don't think these had much more than salt & pepper rub, but man these were amazing. Fall off the bone tender and excellent smoke flavor. In my old age, 3 ribs are enough, but if I'd bought the rack, I'd have eaten them all. Definitely 5***** ribs.
I got a side of sauce, not that the ribs needed anything but I wanted to try it. It's a sweet sauce with hints of mustard & mango, to me anyway. I liked it.
A cup of beans, enough for two. They're plain pinto beans. 3*** I should have got more ribs.

This is some mighty fine brisket. I got the sandwich and to tell the truth, the heavy brioche? style bun was the bad part for me. I'm more the "slice of fatty brisket in white bread taco" kind of guy. Not sure what all he's putting in the rub, maybe some coffee, but WOW, this was excellent flavor, perfectly smoked and tender. 4, bordering on 5*****. I liked it a lot.
So, it was $8 for the sandwich with close to a half pound of brisket. A decent value and better priced than just about all others these days.
While I was hoping the new place close to home was going to be great, Bear Creek is just a bit more of a drive. But then again, I'm at Stahlman's every week for milk and produce.
I'm inclined to say Bear Creek BBQ is a destination spot, not just a drive by spot. Heck I already have joints that are over and hour away.
The brisket and turkey were delicious, but the beef rib...omg...it is the best I have ever had! Will definitely be back for more!
