Smokie's Bar B-Q

Food was great. I had the ribs which were super tender and tasty. Had a good selection of the usual BBQ fare. Small seating area, but it wasn't crowded when I went.

I've eaten here about 4 times now. First time I got a chopped beef meal. It was good, I enjoyed it. The second time I got the same, didn't enjoy it as much. The sandwich was sloppy with meat falling off it. I had to eat it with a fork. Also the meat wasn't that warm. But I went back a couple times bc I work in the area, and the area is limited. 3rd time I got a cheeseburger combo, enjoyed it. Next time got the same thing, didn't enjoy it as much. Burger just didn't seem to have the flavor it had before.

Good BBQ and Catfish.
This joint has really good catfish and definitely the best in the area. Nice crunchy outer layer and the middle is fluffy and soft. Best of all is they are consistent and it comes out the same each time I have been there. You need to ask for extra seasoning because they are light on it for the standard customer. Definitely my favorite menu item.

All of these are consistently good to me but I have to add that when I get the chopped beef I get fatty side so its super moist. I cant speak on the lean because have not had it.

Smokie's is solid. You already know that a gas station restaurant is probably going to be a hit and then one doesn't disappoint. The ribs are excellent. The beef brisket was a little fatty for my preference but some folks like that. (I like lean, lean, lean with a nice bark.) The whole place smells of smoke and that's wonderful. The portion sizes are decent too. The prices run a bit high for gas station fare but not out of bounds.
