Great barbecue! The sides are great too. Show up at 11am or after 1pm if you want to beat some of the crowds.... it's that good!
Good tasting food with reasonable price. Not crowded at lunch time on Sunday. Walking distance from Hotel Anatole and Hilton Garden Inn Market Place.
Love- love- love this place. The ribs, the brisket, those magical praline yams!!!!! Love the fact that it’s a small business rather than a run of the mill chain restaurant. Owner greets you with a smile, the staff is friendly. Been here half a dozen times and it’s always worth the wait. You have to come early to get the full experience. There’s beer as well. The space is welcoming and makes you feel like home.
Very delicious ribs. Brisket very moist.
Excellent choice of sides. Fried Okra is probably the best in town.
There is self serve condiments and they have pickled onions in that.
If you are anywhere near downtown this place is a no brainer.
I'm weighing whether I should say this or not, but this may be my favorite BBQ place, ever. Everything, and I mean everything was great.
For one, if you're gonna make brisket in Texas and call yourself a BBQ joint, the brisket has gotta be top notch. The thick char on theirs is seasoned to perfection and they give you the choice between fat and lean (what kind of psycho chooses lean brisket???). It's the best brisket I can recall having.
The jalapeño cheddar sausage was great, but that's great anywhere you go.
The sides were all great, especially the cornbread pudding they sell as an add on at the register.
Their homemade sauces were a solid complement to the meats.
The staff were all friendly, even though it was crazy busy.
Parking isn't abundant and it's tight, but we got lucky so my experience wasn't bad. I can see how others would be though.
The leftovers were just as good as when I got them (lunch at the restaurant on a Thursday, ate them late Friday night at my house).
What's crazy is my friend from Georgia recommended this place to me, a local. I was embarrassed I had never been here but I'll embrace my shame and now become a Slow Bones evangelist.
