J & S Catfish

Ordered the whole catfish and it was soooo good. Hot, fresh and well seasoned. Will definitely go back.

The first time I went I had an amazing experience, this time it was okay. The hush puppies were a little overcooked. The fish was good. The fries could’ve used a little bit more seasoning. I ordered the 10 piece catfish nugget; very good price. It comes with two slices of bread and fries. I ordered 10 hush puppies on the side with some Texas toast. The sauce you see is the tartar sauce and hot sauce they give you which I mix together and it’s pretty good. If I would’ve rated it the first time I went it definitely would’ve got 5 stars. Other than the not so tasty fries and overcooked hush puppies the price was very fair. I would go back its a great hole in the wall type place.

The food is good and comparatively so the pricing is good. Good enough that I drive a distance to get it . You get what you should be looking for when coming to a small, quick fried food place in the hood. There are not many parking spaces and if you're traveling north on Lancaster getting to it can be tricky because you have to u-turn at a fairly busy stop however you would be at a red light at 52nd Street so it's not hard to get to you just have to know that it's there and be prepared for the u-turn otherwise you'll pass it before you realize that you have. There's a fish market next door so if you want to buy fresh fish to take home and keep the party going you can. If you're looking for atmosphere and Ambience this is NOT the place but if you're just looking to take a quick bite or quick carryout of good fried fish then you've found your spot.
