Great place to get away from everything

Its a cool place to go unwind have a few cold one and play a game of pool.

Unlike the comments from previous reviews the bar is neither hard to find or notice.  Also,there's a sign/mural on the outside wall, visible as you approach from the West. Easy to see if you're walking, not so much in a vehicle.  And the parking lot is definitely not the Everest base camp others have described.

Tradewinds opens at 5:00, I arrived at 5:32 and the door was still locked.  I yanked on it a couple of times and eventually the door opened. The bar was not at all as grimy as I'd anticipated from reviews. It's a dive bar, not a hospital room. There's a big difference between “dive” and “grimy.”. It was dark, dive-ish (surprise) and pretty unremarkable.

The bartender, Justin, was cool and I talked with him for a while.  This is unusual for me as I'm usually pretty nonverbal. The bathrooms only serve one at a time but the bar is small enough that this is OK.  The men's room didn't smell all that great but seemed otherwise clean. There's a space to the right as you enter (West) which holds the live acts. Also a very interesting, very small patio outside.

A pretty cool place. Worth a visit from out of town?  Maybe :-)

Great dive bar. Friendly atmosphere + live music. Worth the drive.

Beyond best dive bar years in a row, the rawest talent is always thru, especially on Thursdays when they have a free series called Run With Scissors. Never a dull moment at Tradewinds!
