Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

Ok, this is my honest review. This was my first time eating Gus, I was so excited to see this place in Downtown Dallas because it was new and I never heard of Gus before. First the parking was awful I had to park at a meter and walk, but it's downtown so that's no fault of Gus. Second the 2 piece plate was expensive "to me" but no problem if it's good. After a 10 to 15 minute wait (Sunday) the fries where barley warm and clearly not fresh, the chicken was fatty, the potato salad was fair. I personally will never go back but I encourage others to try it out and support. I will say the seasoning is good.

There was no wait for a table, came in and sat straight down. They do not have any real wine options but most of the primary domestic and import beers. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. Coleslaw was amazing, Mac and cheese was pretty good, greens needed more flavorful - they reminded me of glory greens out the can. Server was very nice and food came out pretty quickly. Overall, the dining experience was pretty good! I will be back.

I enjoyed the food but I am annoyed that servers and cashiers aren’t getting tipped, I passed by a table before sitting at mine and its disgusting, I saw a guest leave change and I added several dollars on top of the change. If you are broke don’t EAT HERE!!!!! The food is very affordable, go to McDonald’s if you cannot afford it. Love the food ❤️

Great service and even better food. Our server Ron was great, he recommended the Fried tomatoes and the Mac n Cheese. Both are a must! The chicken was Fresh and spicy. Check this place out if your in the area

So happy I stopped in for some to go food. What a great addition to Deep Ellum too. I ordered the 3 piece dark meat platter with turnip greens and potato salad, let me tell you it did not disappoint. Ronnie took care of us and was amazing during these unprecedented times. Can't wait to go back for more.
