La Calle Doce

La Calle Doce has been in the community for years and throughout the years they've maintained their reputation for good food and good service. I recently visited with my mom for my bday and had the Chicken Tortilla soup. It was really flavorful and hearty, however it was my 1st time having tortilla soup that wasn't served with slices of avocado.
A guy with his guitar serenaded me with a song to celebrate my special day.

The food is well prepared and very tasty indeed. The place is cozy and the prices are fair. My only disappointment was with the service. Case in point, we grabbed a table outside and we spent over 10 minutes for someone to come and take our order. I went to hostess area to let them that where we were sitting and requesting to send us a waiter, but our waiting continued until finally decided to better go inside and grab a table there. The funny thing is that the same hostess I had talked to previously, greeted me with "How many?" to inquire about how many people in party to assign us a table.

I asked if they had octopus and they do but it’s not published on their menu... top secret menu item. The service was great, I had refills to my drink before it was empty, for was at the table in under ten minutes. Made lunch easy to get in and out in less than 1 hr. The look of the restaurant is great inside, great amount of parking.

From the moment you walk through the door you can just tell you are going to be in for a real treat! The decor is lovely with different blue and white wallpaper in each of the front dining rooms. Beautiful fresh flowers in large blue and white vases on the fireplace mantel and great light streaming in from the large windows.
The menu is extensive and quite interesting. Look online before you go so you can be thinking about what to order.
We started off with a half order of shrimp nachos, that were amazing! Then we were served a fish soup, which was a delicious surprise and was so flavorful. (Not spicy)
We ordered fried shrimp with fries and it was perfect. The tartar sauce was so good too.
I had the grilled shrimp and veggies, served with rice or baked potato. I chose baked potato and it was perfect.
To finish the meal, we had a flan and it was perfect. All in all a fantastic meal, great service and on our list of top restaurants in Dallas.
It does get crowded but the wait isn’t long, as the service and food preparation time is very fast.
Note: that it is a “Vera Cruz” seafood restaurant that also serves traditional Mexican dishes.

Also has a cute bar area and a front porch dining area, which would be lovely on cooler fall days.
We loved our dining experience today and will return!????

This is my favorite place to eat. The margaritas are amazing and the shrimp cocktail never let's me down. Not to mention the live guitar player that will serenade you at your table. Love it!
