Atmosphere was excellent and so was the few staff I came in contact with which was 2. I can't rate food yet because all I got was the catfish plate and it was well under seasoned and needed salt. I can't add salt to already cooked food, but I'm going back to try other things. So don't judge your 1st experience off of my review, need a a few more times. Will provide update as soon as I go back.
This place really surprised me. Driven by it for years and finally gave it a try. Delicious food. Lots of traditional Cajun selections. Staff was working hard. I recommend you try it and I will be back.
We were in the area and my wife had a catfish craving. What kind of husband would I be if I didn't take advantage of the fact that she could narrow it down without an hour of her rejecting my "I don't care where we eat" choices? Glad I found this place! Jacob K was an excellent server, always on top of things. I wanted to sample everything, so I got the big platter of catfish, fried oysters, and shrimp. All of it was top notch. The catfish had a cornmeal batter, the way it's supposed to. We'll definitely be back.
The is a very unpretentious place with large plates of tasty food at great prices. The service was good, the decor was basic and the food was good. Try this place for a great casual dining experience. The only drawback it that our server sold us on the great jalapeno cornbread made fresh daily, which we ordered. Only, there was no trace of jalapeno anywhere in the cornbread, nor did it have ANY spice to it. I think that we were sold the emperor's clothes and were given plain old cornbread with an upgraded price and a promise of flavor. Otherwise they would have gotten a higher rating.
This place is all homemade, family owned, exactly what I wanted! Had the chicken fried steak (hand breaded, never frozen), homemade mashed potatoes and okra. Husband had the catfish, french fries, red beans and rice and loved it all! Then the owner gave us a complimentary pecan cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream! Unbelievably good!!! We will be back again and again!
