I wish I could give them 10 stars. First I love the location a on Locust just North of The Square. Interesting older building with outdoor seating and murals to look at. Has a walkup window. On the inside its cozy and really nice atmosphere. My wife got the chopped brisket sandwich which she loved and some Mac and Cheese which was different but good. I had the Smoky Mountain sandwich with the Slaw #3. Both of which were amazing. The sandwich had their pickles on them that set the sandwich all the way off. Will definitely be going back to try the Sampler. Will take more pictures next time.
Traveling from out of town for work. The crew wanted Texas barbeque. I thought the meat and sauces were just okay, plus they were out of brisket and ribs. The and seating was kind of tough. It seemed designed for outdoors, and we did sit out there even though it was extremely windy, because inside was cramped and uncomfortable. The staff were awesomely friendly.
They serve pork, beef, chicken, and turkey. They have three kinds of sauce. They have six or seven different sides. Each meal comes with bread and a deviled egg. Price is comparable to other BBQ shops. They have indoor dining and outdoor tables under their big awning. The mural on the building facing the shop is quite impressive.
Meat was delicious and cooked to perfection. But the sides where not the greatest and the portions where small. Cost was much higher than I would expect from such small portion sizes. I won't be eating there again, because we left still hungry and already spent over $30 for 2 meals.
For me Texas Bar B Que falls into 3 a) Food is great and get a Texan experience. Worth going out of your way to eat here. b) By Texas standards the food isn't great however you do get a Texas feel but you're better off going to Bar B Que chain restaurant. c) Don't bother.
Juicy Pig was a solid B. On one had you get thick cuts of brisket on the other hand it's chewy and fatty. They need to up their game with their brisket and potatoe salad because you're better off going to Dickey's.
