Met some friends and we went to a new place that they liked. We went to Amano Italian Bistro. We had a reservation for a group of 8 people and got seated in the back corner that was not lit very well. I had to use my phone light to read the menu. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan which was $12. It is BYOB so we had a bottle of with us. The owner came over and had wine glasses and opened our bottle of wine. We all ordered and my plate came with a side of spaghetti in tomato sauce. The eggplant was breaded and was layered and it was good. It was a new place and not much in decor on the walls. The staff was friendly and only fault them for not refilling my water more when I needed. The bathroom was clean but the paper towel dispenser stopped working but later someone else went in and said it was working. Overall I did enjoy my meal there and other meals that people ordered seem to be enjoyed by those in our group. Will have to try some of the other entre's on their menu.
We dined on a wed. night at approximately 6pm. We were seated immediately, offered a drink and given time to look over the menu. We skipped the appetizers, but we each ordered a pasta dish, which is served with a garden style salad before the meal, and a bread basket.
My choice was the Fettuccine Alfredo, our waitress assured me that it's made in-house, and by the order. It was very good. My husband had the tortellini Bolognese, and the flavors were bright and fresh.
The only thing I would change is the salad. It was mostly just white/light green, with a single, lonely grape tomato. An option to upgrade the salad or replace it with a nice warm broth would put this spot at 5 stars.
We will definitely dine here again.
We tried Amano's this evening and were delighted and very well fed. The bread was fluffy and warm. The Caesar salad was dressed perfectly. The lasagna was well made: cheesy and meaty with firm pasta.
It's a great family owned business and worth checking out. We'll be back for sure!!
Excellent food. Some prices in the high end but it's worth it. Their breads they bring in is marvelous.
The servers young and very polite.
My pizza was 18" and could not eat it all. Just had fantastic Mediterranean Platter as a starter. Their Hummus just fantastic.
Will for sure be back here.
Go ahead and try this place.
My husband and I were driving into Roanoke to eat at another restaurant, when we turned around to eat here, because the smell was so good. I asked the waitress for her recommendation, and she suggested the Chicken Marsala. My husband loves Veal Parmesan, so that is what he ordered. We had the fried cheese appetizer and it was perfect. My husband said the Veal Parmesan was “most excellent”. I am so happy I listened to our waitress. The Chicken Marsala was absolute perfection. Our glasses never got below half full. You can tell the staff really cares about you having a great experience at their restaurant. It has great decor, awesome staff, and amazing food. I can’t wait to go back and have another tasty meal.
