Stopped in on a recommendation. It was actually about 20 miles out of the way but I'm always up for a new smoked brisket experience. The sliced beef sandwich was good (choose between regular bread and Texas Toast). Personally, I like a little more smoke but most people would find this brisket has great taste. The hospitality was ... well ... dry. My bottled root beer was room temperature ... I probably should have handed it back but I didn't see a lot of options. Great atmosphere for a small group. -

(March 6, 2019, 12:02 am)Great barbecue sandwiches. However the facility itself is rustic and there are no restrooms where you order your food. You have to go next door to a big room with lots of tables and no heat or AC and I felt. Prices are really reasonable. It was a good in route vacation stop for me.

(February 17, 2019, 8:02 pm)On our trip back to Houston from San Antonio, we decided barbeque sounded good. Googled lots of places, chose Joel's. It didn't disappoint. The brisket, ribs and Turkey was tender and flavorful. Small shop, but BIG on flavor!
