Shipley Do-Nuts

Mar 2024 - it's an H-town thang and a Houston institution! BEST 🍩 donuts around. Love the hot glazed. Chocolate covered is a must. And if you're in the mood for "NOT a donut," try a kolache. My fav is a saugage, jalapeño & cheese. 😋 Now, a stop at Shipley isn't complete unless you get dozen donut holes for snacking later. Lol😃. They have all the other favorites, too... filled, cake, sprinkles, cinnamon rolls,bear claw, apple fritter, etc... The coffee is good. 👍 and OJ, milk, and bottled water available. Yea, there's Dunkin, Crispy Cream, Tim Hortons, and many, many neighborhood donuts 🍩 shops... as for me and my family, it's Shipley! The H-town institute for donuts!

I am a Texan in Katy Texas. Therefore I love Shipley Do-Nuts. Every flavor and type are delicious. However, their plain old raised glazed do-nut early in the morning, still warm, only cool enough that the glaze is not too sticky, is better than almost anything early in the morning.
Further, I love Shipley Kolaches. I know they are not really kolaches. Yes, they are really pigs-in-a-blanket, But those smoked sausage piggies, yummy cheese and my favorite - fresh jalapenos are like dying and going to... Texas of course.
The atmosphere is... well its a donut shop - In Texas. Excellent!
Service is very good, except for early morning, especially on the weekends, there is no way you get in and out without waiting a little while to get to the front of the line, Not bad service, just great do-nuts. Shipley is why Krispy Kreme has tried twice and failed to succeed in the Houston market. I didn't hate Krispy Kreme, but I always feared going into a diabetic coma when I'd eat one, and I'm not diabetic. Too sweet!!

Nice place. The kolaches are on point. Donuts were nice and glazed. The cashier could use just a little bit more training. She didn't understand me when I asked her for a plain sausage kolache. She seemed somewhat confused. So, I, instead, just said it to her in Spanish. Maybe it was just a rough morning for her. Otherwise, the place is clean & pleasant. Recommended to visit.
