THE BEST BAKED POTATO and bbq ive ever had! Home made, family owned and could not ask for a better gem when you just get into texas. An oasis in the mix of all these gas stations. Bring anyone you know. The ribs have smoky sauce and the potato salad and beans made me smile ear to ear. Fantastic owner!

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had. Perfectly smoked brisket and the sausage was amazing. I ordered the Big Tex, two meats on Texas Toast. Y'all... It's worth the stop and then some. My buddy had the two meat plate, same meats and he agreed it was all spectacular. It's a homey atmosphere, a little bit old diner, a little bit your uncle Steve who lives in the country. Lots of animal heads on the wall, but if you're stopping here you're not a vegan anyways. We also had banana pudding that tastes like your aunt Linda made it this morning. Oh and the tea was great too, brewed strong enough to know it's tea and sweet enough for a Texan adult.

And the portions, I've got a belly but I left full.

There Stud spud is amazing. Loaded bake potatoe with two kinds of meat and home made barbecue sauce on top. Plus their
Brisket is tender and melts in your mouth. They also have plate lunches. These folks know what BBQ should taste like. I will definetly recommend this place to all my friends.

We come to Mt.Vernon once a week to visit my Mother-in-law, who's in a nursing home there. We have a favorite restaurant that we frequent, but today we decided we wanted to try a new (to us) place. Texas Barbeque Corral came up in my Google search, and the reviews were good, so we decided to try it. It was 6PM on Thursday, and Google said they closed at 8, so, no problem.
The food is delicious! We both ordered the 2 meat plate; both of us got brisket and sausage. The plate comes with either 2 sides or a baked potato. I got green beans and potato salad and hubby got a baked potato. We're both picky about sausage, but this was really good, not too greasy like some sausage can be. The brisket was flavorful, juicy and tender! I love good brisket, and this is one of the best I've had. I didn't even want BBQ sauce on it! The green beans are cooked with ham in them, which I love, and the potato salad was awesome! Hubby's baked potato looked great, and he said it was; and it was huge! We had more food than we could eat, and all for the bargain price of $28.
About halfway through our meal, it appeared that the staff were cleaning everything up as though they were closing. I checked the time, and it was 6:50; turns out they close at 7! We felt bad, coming in just as they were about to close, and we told them as much. They were very nice and insisted it wasn't a problem.
We will definitely go again, but we'll call first to check their closing times.
If you love BBQ, you'll love Texas Barbeque Corral!!
