Around The Corner (Food Truck)

This place is a little food truck area with outdoor seating. The food was amazing, I ordered several different items on the menu just to basically try it all. It was well worth the drive. The owners are super sweet and very accommodating. It is a must stop and have some German Food place.

Took a trip to Galveston Beach to eat some delicious authentic German food for lunch. Around the corner (Um de ecke) is owned by two of the nicest people you can imagine.
If you haven’t met Judith Smith & her sweet husband yet, you are missing out!
The food was so good it took us back to Oma’s kitchen in Deutschland. We tried almost everything on the menu! Schnitzel with buttery spaetzel and sauerkraut & sausage. Currywurst with pommes frites. Yummy Schnuggets, the gurkensalat has the tastiest yogurt dill dressing. Then their hammered spaetzel with ham and cheese. The kids got Haribo gummy kabobs for dessert.
Highly recommend a trip down to Galveston even if it’s just to get some “real” German food to go!

Everything about the experience at Around the Corner, including the service, the chatter with the cooks, their story, the food and the menu was quite wonderful.

Specifically the food (the currysauce!!) carried me back to my childhood where I would munch on currywurst and fries with mayo marching up and down PaquetStrasse.

Thank you for providing a food time capsule for me and a frelling wonderful start to our vacation.

Completely blown away by how fresh and tasty the German food is!! Something the island has needed for quite some time!! I enjoyed the bratwurst and can’t wait to go back for the currywurst! Her homemade German style ketchup is fantastic!

I cannot express how amazing this food is! Judith and Charles Smith are wonderful people who put care into everything they do. Whether it’s holding a conversation, creating a wonderful delicious meal, or ensuring your hot freshly served food has just the right amount of seasoning or taste! That is why I can ensure you that an experience at their food truck is worth one having. It is filled with delicious authentic German food that will want you coming back for seconds (maybe even thirds). Would recommend EVERYONE to try this new up and coming food truck for it will take you right into the heart of German culture provided by my mother, Judith Smith and step father, Charles Smith! ❤️ Love you guys!
