Every time I come to Texas to visit family, they take me to Der Lindenbaum. It is a quaint little restaurant with amazing food. We enjoy it every time.

The schnitzel was excellent. The service was good and chocolate black forest cake was amazing. The prices seemed a little high. Der Lindenbaum is a speciality restaurant and I guess you should expect to pay more for that type and quality of food.

So we went for dinner to this place and there are a couple of issues I had. I got the Curry sausage that comes with German potato salad and sauerkraut. The 2nd dish was wiener Schnitzel with rot Kohl and German potato salad.
Now I ate potato salad all over Germany and I never had one that was made from mashed potatoes. So this wasn't that German. The sauerkraut might be great for someone that grew up in the USA but for me it was a little flat.
The Rot Kohl on the other side while not perfect was good.
The wiener schnitzel was also good.
Not to forget, the Curry sauce for the Curry sausage was quite good but could pull up the rating since the other two sides weren't that great.
As a dessert we had tiramisu and this one was quite good but without amaretto. Since they probably have a lot of kids this was understandable.
This is a very Americanized German restaurant. Not sure if we come back as there are plenty of other German restaurants in this town we need to check out.

I rated it a three trying not to screw up overall score. Problem was it was closed on Tuesday when their website and Google Maps showed it was open. Had heard it was good but..went to Rathskeller instead..they need to change their web site and the Google Map info before they close. Will try to return and rate again.

RETURNED...Was simply too heavy in their use of salt..salt over whelmed much of a German touch, staff was very nice and menu selection good. Two did not like the bean soup being too spicy.
