I'm from Louisiana. This isn't cajun that I can tell. But maybe it was just the dish I didn't like. So, I would go back for a 2nd try. Pleasant atmosphere, clean, friendly waiters yet not very knowledgeable....some training needed there. Worth a visit if you like Cajun type food.
Food was amazing, service impeccable! Went there for my wife's birthday dinner, as she's "39" again. Mike was our server and he was simply on it from beginning to end. Fantastic guy y'all have working for you right there. The bayou balls were simply the best and the tartar sauce actually has horseradish in it! The bean soup was so good that I wish I had gotten a bigger cup. I've always been a fan of Happy's here in Tyler, but Booshay's has made a conversion of me. It's a trip to Gladewater anytime we're in the mood for some truly authentic Cajun food. Thank you Mike and thank you Booshay's!
I have honestly never tasted crawfish until I came to Booshay's one day to meet family. The Cajun Popcorn (fried crawfish tails) is amazing. The burgers have got to be the absolute BEST burgers in all of Gladewater, quite possibly all of East Texas. The Swamp Dust they have adds just the right amount of spice to every dish and the fries...oh my god. Normally, I use ketchup to drown out the flavorless taste of typical fries but here... It's almost an insult to the flavor to even reach for the ketchup. The prices are a bit higher than other places but if you want an absolutely fantastic taste of cajun cooking, give Booshay's a chance.
This was my second visit here and it was to celebrate my future SIL's 21st birthday. After a fairly long wait, we all received our food except my daughter. I was finally able to wave our waitress down to ask where my daughter's order was - it was just crawfish etouffee - which I'm sure just needed to be spooned from a pot to a bowl. I was bothered by the fact that our waitress had not noticed that my daughter was sitting there eating other's sides (beans, coleslaw, and garlic bread) while waiting patiently for her food to arrive. (They did comp her meal 50%.) When we were about to pay out, we saw a charge for pepper jack cheese for $1.00 in addition to the $9.99 for the buffalo chicken sandwich - even though the menu's description lists pepper jack as part of what comes on the sandwich.
Very good food.
