We've had a holiday lunch here for the past 6 years and it's always wonderful. So much Texas history in every part of the restaurant. You could spend hours just looking at everything. Holiday decorations are over the top. Food is excellent and the staff go over and above.
I gave you 4 stars not 5 only because the hostess is very unfriendly! No smile nothing at all. That is not a good fit for her at all! This was our first visit there. So you know what they say about first impression! It was much better once we talked to our server. She was great. The food and atmosphere was wonderful. I hope someone will talk to her on how to smile and properly greet the guests!
I have eaten here several times. It has a truly unique ambience. The owners love of Texas history is on display with large portraits of Texas legends and events. They have a room created from an old log cabin.Very nice and upscale. The food is great, the steaks are cooked accurately to the requested temp., and the portions are large. The service has been attentive and fast every time I have been there.
A good choice for special occasions.
This place is almost more of a history museum than a restaurant. Almost. The waiter gave us a nice rundown of Texas history and the origin of the large paintings and murals hanging around. For an appetizer we had the bacon wrapped shrimp, and they were spectacular, and I'm not even much of a fan of shrimp. The steaks were cooked to a perfect medium-rare and were delicious as well.
