We've been going for a couple years now and I can say we've never been disappointed. We can get a different dish every time we go and it's always just as good if not better than the last one. Definitely our go-to brunch spot. The staff is super nice and you can tell how much they must love their work. We always love to see the new stuff the Chef has in the works, just seeing photos or smelling what's coming out of the kitchen makes us hungry. Our friends are probably sick and tired of hearing us talk about Viola and Agnes, but its totally worth it!
Have you ever seen the movie Chocolat? This is what I think of when I come to this restaurant. I feel that Chef Aaron and his sous chefs blow a kiss in the food or something because I feel the love. This is my second time coming back to this restaurant. I went during lunch today around 1:10 p.m. For appetizers I ordered the pork rinds (HUGE order) and place an order to go for oxtails. THE FOOD IS AWESOME! It makes me fantasize about my life and asking the chef do you cater? Can you cater my rehearsal dinner, my wedding, my baby shower, my early retirement party etc, etc!!!
Since eating here, I have become extremely bourgeois about my soul food now. For local Houstonians be prepared for a wait. This is not your average soul food restaurant. It's not cafeteria style. It's freshly cooked and homemade. I'm hooked and I will be back.
A shout out to Katie. They were short-staffed today, but Katie ran the front and all those tables like a pro! Keep up the good work KATIE!
The food and the presentation was exceptional. The cafe is warm and inviting with a New Orleans feel and ambiance. The staff was friendly. I will definitely be back; this spot is my new go to for creole style food. I loved the music and the whole vibe of this place.
The food is consistently cooked and prepared to perfection. The environment is casual, intimate, happy and has great music. It is soul food after all. The gumbo is best around, even better than any I've had in NOLA.
The food was very tasteful. I can't wait to try the whole menu. Chef Aaron is awesome! Ms. Silvia was very nice and helpful. Friendly staff.
