Nice casual venue with good service and wide range of beers and cocktails. Play R&R music on speakers, but loud and hard to have a conversation. Parking is challenging...or valet at Hotel Sorella. Haven't eaten here. Located next to the Green which is entertaining for kids.
ASK FOR KATE! Kate went above and beyond to make our night out amazing! We went to Yard House for my boyfriends birthday tonight and absolutely loved everything! Kate gave us the best recommendations on both beer and food. I usually never drink beer and Kate was able to find a beer I actually enjoyed on her first try. We highly recommend the southern fried chicken breast and the spinach dip. By far our favorite place to eat and the best service in Houston!
Smack dab in the middle of city centre, Yard House is in the prime area to offer an assortment of good food and libations. While it does offer a good assortment of beers and drinks at reasonable prices, its food has failed to live up to expectations. Many of its dishes are overpriced and rather standard, at best. There are some highlights, such as the Nashville Hot Chicken, but even that has become a bit too expensive ($26). The happy hour is a much better deal by comparison, but no better than average when comparing it to many other happy hour specials.
Yard House is a relaxed bar/restaurant, but its food prices suggest that it is much more upscale than it actually is. I really only come here for beer now because not many other places within the vicinity can compete for the same variety and pricing and because the food is so ridiculously expensive. For those looking at Yard House, you should save your stomach and eat elsewhere first.
P.S The half-yard sized drink is a bit of a rip-off considering that two of their medium sized pints are about the same volume. It certainly looks impressive, but I'd suggest just getting two smaller glasses.
The drinks are great. The onion rings stack was delicious, not too much breading. The pizza crust was a little soggy, maybe too much oil, but the toppings tasted great. The fried rice was great and you can get it with brown rice. Be prepared to spend money but the friendly service and local atmosphere makes it worth the price.
