The aesthetic was on point. Didn’t really enjoy the soup, but the Caesar salad was quite good. The beer was nice and warm, and that’s how I like my ales & lagers. Would definitely come back for another beer when I feel like escaping across the pond and I’m lacking funds on a plane ticket!
Loved the Prime Rib but, the drinks were lacking and two that were ordered were unavailable.
The environment is fantastic: clean, raw wood tables, mismatched wood chairs, sparse and clean decor.
The food we had was great, highly suggest either the prime rib or the beef sandwich. I've been told that their wellington is more of a beef pot pie so we stayed away from that.
Drinks were a disappointment though. Old fashioned had a bed of crushed cherries giving it an overwhelming cherry flavor. No Scottish coffee so went with the irish coffee, it was simply okay.
Such a fun place! Food was so good and the atmosphere was cozy and laid back. They have the best Old Fashioned I've ever had.
The good
The atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant is amazing. It really does look like an authentic English pub.
The drink selection is very good, with lots of variety and plenty of imports
The bad
The food can sometimes be inconsistent. Nothing is ever terrible, but sometimes there is a noticeable difference in quality.
The service can be spotty. Often is is perfect, but the off days happens more than I would expect.
The prices are a bit steep, especially with the inconsistent service and quality.
The bottom line
It is a fantastic bar aesthetically, and often meets that amazing look. However it can stumble and is something one should be aware of.
Beautiful interior and exterior. One of the coziest spots in Houston. Great atmosphere, decorated in the Christmas spirit when we dined. Great attentive service. Food is OK. Shepard’s Pie was tasty - especially the mashed potatoes. Fish N Chips were soggy, I’d prefer a much crunchier fried fish. Would recommend a visit!
