I feel like this restaurant is over-rated. Although the atmosphere is really nice, service is excellent, and the dining room is very clean, the food, in my opinion, is subpar.
A party of 10 of us went one Sunday morning for breakfast and ordered a variety of things but were not impressed by the offerings. First of all, it was really busy, the wait for our food was long, and it really seemed as though the staff was overwhelmed by the rush.
I was surprised and dismayed that there weren't any chocolate or chocolate chip pancakes on the menu. They offered to put chocolate chips in my pancake but they were basically an afterthought and burned on the bottom, as well. My cheese omelet wasn't very tasty, either. I'm not a coffee drinker but no one really seemed to enjoy the coffee they had to offer.
On the desert side, I ordered a strawberry cheesecake and it was pretty good. The same can't be said about the fudge cheesecake. It was more fudge than cheesecake and the fudge wasn't as good as I've had; I would definitely not recommend it.
Nice atmosphere. Good food. Great service. Not a fan of the seating, seems a bit congested. You will get a little annoyed at how many times you are offered to get your coffee refilled, but in my opinion that is a good problem.
Establishment was very professional. Upon being seated I was offered a beverage due to the wait time which by the way was only 8 minutes. Once seated my host was very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu choices. The presentation of the food was very elegant for not being a high class, high cost restaurant. All-in-all I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be sure to stop in more often.
First time having breakfast at House of Pies. Usually we go just for dessert. The restaurant was packed, but we got seats at the bar. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken and eggs. A tinge on the salty side, but still very good. And I still indulged in pecan pie afterward which did not disappoint. The waitstaff was courteous and attentive.
