Esther's Cajun Cafe & Soul Food

Good food was looking for a soul food place for a out of town guess. The reviews speaks for themselves. So good the catfish so good... We all tried something different and it was all good. This was my first time here and will be coming back ..... Good Soul Food .... Added to my favorites

Honest Al here. Some of the best soul food in Texas, not just Houston!! Located in an area most dare not venture, Esther's has its own parking lot so rest assure your vehicle will be fine. Although, the line maybe be long and venue is cozy, most people are in and out within 30 mins. By the time you finish it will be time for a nap!

We stopped in after looking at places to go in the Heights area, this was a little further down Yale than I thought. But we stopped in anyway. The food was very good! I had the Gumbo with the Red Beans & Rice..I tend to eat Gumbo as many times as I can and I really enjoyed this because of how big the portion was and the amount of rice they gave you! My sister had the penne pasta and she said it lacked a little flavor but loved the sides! Place is really cozy too, and I love the cafeteria style soul food. Can't wait to go back and try the chicken spaghetti.

I had the fish, mac and cheese and blackeye peas. The fish wasn't crunchy and lacked flavor. The mac and cheese taste like something out of a can. The beans were great. My overall experience wasn't bad. The environment was very casual and the staff were very helpful.

I'm giving ester's a 3 star... First of all the food is great but customer service is very important to me, I went today and the ladies were quite rude, I was asking about the cakes and flavors they kind of snapped as I asked about each one, not only that, one girl standing at the register with the other girl tried to rush me off. I held my composure but next time I may not..Lord forbid. Please work on your employees attitude. Other than that I love esters.
