Friendly staff. Fried ribs are awesome. Veggies are always fresh.
My husband, sister and brother in law visited the restaurant while we were in Houston. It's a few minutes away from the Screwed up Tapes and Records store. We had smothered chicken, fried catfish, shrimp and stuffed pepper for our entrees. Mashed potatoes and gravy, rice with gravy, French fries, candied yams, collard greens and macaroni and cheese were our side items. The food was fresh, hot and tasted great. The Trap house sweet tea is great by itself or wonderful to add to mix a drink. The staff was nice and helpful. We appreciate the southern hospitality.
My first visit to this place was enjoyable. Don't let the decor fool you. This family owned business emphasizes the family part of this business. They greet and treat you like family and make you feel so welcome. The food is undeniably good and the portions are generous. You have to try their "Traphouse" tea, which I prefer to call Crackhouse tea, because this stuff is so addictive! I don't even like tea, and this beverage was so damn good. The staff says it is made without sugar and you can buy it by the gallon if you want more. The peach cobbler is the best I have ever tasted in my life! The fried pork chops are large and flavorful and comes with your choice of sides. The Special was the okra-sausage-shrimp dish and it was very good. And this despite my not being that fond of okra.
I plan on returning for the food and atmosphere cannot be matched.
Dinning room could use an upgrade but don't let that deter you from some great food. Hubby loved the smothered oxtails❤. I had the fish and it was excellent. Smothered pork chops and gumbo tasted great!! Worth the drive from pasadena.
The fried ribs, catfish and meatloaf is good. This is my to go place for soul food. Only issue is the wait. I parked and waited till my food was done. The owner insisted I pay prior but I refused. The food was ready within 15 minutes.
