Breakfast tacos are the best! The menudo is a delight, even the machine tamales are good! Only downside is you have to spend $10 or more to pay with card, bummer if you're just grabbing a bite for just yourself.
I've driven by this hole-in-the-wall tamale & taco stand dozens of times and never knew it was a restaurant. It's a small building at the corner of Canal & Navigation. A small sign in the window says Alamo Tamales.
It's mainly a to-go place or outside dining place. The tacos are large, inexpensive and tasty. One taco makes a light lunch.
I recommend the food. I'd give it a higher rating if it were not such a cramped facility. Since I am mainly a dine-in customer, I prefer their location on Berry Rd.
Lovely restaurant! The staff was very friendly and welcoming when I walked in. They have lots of different options to choose from as it pertains to tacos. I came because I wanted to try out their tamales. I kept it simple by ordering the basic chicken tamale. It was good. The tamales run on the small side so I got 3. You can get 2 for 3 dollars. I would certainly come here again.
This place is so so houston inner-city, outside run-down but so so special. Most people speak Spanish and you can see from the crowd that it is a lot of blue-collar workers looking for a good meal. I absolutely love this place.
I enjoy homemade tamales. My best friend mom put a spinn on homemade chicken tamales Not, to say the other food is questionable. Friendly service aim to please. Come on down to the navigation location.
