One word - AMAZING!!! The Vietnamese dishes are so unique unlike any other Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever been to. The Vietnamese grilled pizza was our favorite dish. There was so much flavor in it! The lobster fried rice was delicious and I am very picky about fried rice. The brisket with puffed pho noodles was very unique and tasty as well along with the braised pork belly. I will be back again to try more dishes. So excited that this fabulous place in my neighborhood!
Dinette is one of the few restaurants in its early stages of opening that actually doesn't feel it just opened. The food and drinks definitely delivered. Dinette is from the same chef as Hando. It is located in the Heights in the same plaza as Crawfish Cafe. There is a parking lot, but it is shared with the other businesses. As of early August, there is no sign on the building, so it's a bit tricky to find.
Drinks: Overall good drinks, some come in a fun cup
-Dinette G&T
-Pineapple Green Tea
-Jean-Claude Pandan
-Blame it on the Cane (elephant cup)
-Brazilian Bolo Tie (cactus cup)
Food:
-Braised Pork Belly - 5/5 - the pork was thick and tender, and the rice bed was crispy and sweet.
-BX Taco - 3/5 - Nothing special, I prefer homemade banh xeo.
-Pandan Fried Okra - 3.5/5 - unique, has a thick, fried coat of pandan. I'm not an okra person, so it's hard to get over the slimy inside.
-Vietnamese Grilled Pizza - 5/5 - surprisingly a hit! Unique combination of ingredients.
-Tamarind Wings - 4/5 - very tangy taste. Wing size is large.
-Brisket with Puffed Pho Noodles - 5/5 - another surprise hit! The brisket was super tender and the puffed pho noodles were a nice added texture. This reminds me of the hardened fried noodles with seafood that you typically get at Vietnamese restaurants.
-Lobster and Salted Egg Fried Rice - 3/5 - this was a disappointment as I was looking forward to it. The dish lacked flavor and the lobster was overcooked.
-Char Siu Chicken - 4/5 - chicken was moist and tender. They give the char siu sauce on the side.
Overall:
Highly recommend: braised pork belly, Vietnamese grilled pizza, brisket with puffed pho noodles.
Skip: BX taco, lobster and salted egg fried rice.
I would definitely come back here! Come with a small group of friends so you can share different plates.
This place was absolutely phenomenal and blew away any expectations we had! We got to try a big chunk of their menu. Food was not only delicious but also authentic with a few fun twists. A wonderful homage to Vietnam and their signature dishes. Awesome service and staff as well.
It was a pleasure dining here. There’s a good atmosphere with the decor and all the staff were very friendly. They helped with any questions we had and very attentive. Fortunately we were able to sample quite a few dishes on the food menu and some of the cocktails too. With many Vietnamese and other southeast Asian restaurants trending towards a very upscale experience, it was refreshing to see a place like Dinette that can retain traditional dishes with some modern flare and welcome in a diverse crowd. Don’t get me wrong, the food and drinks here were amazing without having to break the bank. We’ll certainly be back many many times in the future.
Fantastic place for a fun dining experience. The small and medium plates are reminiscent of a dim sum or tapas experience but you can order the large plates for a much hardier meal. The food and service were great and the drink selection is unique and fun.
