I am pleased to be greeted and treated well, the employees especially Ms. Cameron at This it made me feel very welcomed. The food was great as usual. Today I got one of my favorite plates the smothered pork chops and I was very satisfied.

You can feel -and taste- the love and joy they put into the food! Everyone was super nice and helpful. This place is a gem, they say it's the oldest soul food restaurant in Houston

The food was beyond amazing! Everything was seasoned perfectly and fresh like your family would make it. They also give good portions of food for the price. The service was great also. I'll definitely be going back when I'm in town.

I highly recommend coming here if your looking for delicious comfort food. Food that genuinely tastes like it was made with love. Last year I went to Houston on my own food tour.???? I finally bumped into this restaraunt after seeing it come up online. Everyone was super friendly and the servings were hearty. It's the kind of place where you wish you had another stomach to try it all! I had the catfish with grits and collards and it was honestly the best I've ever had to date. Catfish well seasoned and crispy on the outside. Grits creamy and buttery. Oh and it came with a side of corn bread! ???? By the way my friend had the mac n cheese and it was so cheesy and yummy. The cheese pulls apart when you try to take a bite out. I can still remember her rice and black eyed peas as well it was all so heavenly. We will be back next time we're in town!

I remember when this wonderful restaurant was closer to my house. I was upset they closed. Little did I know they had just moved. I found them driving to UH the other day and was so excited I went in and had the best flash back. The food is still as good as I remembered. The food options do change daily, but that's what makes you return often...the variety. The people are very friendly and accommodating. The food speaks for itself. I cannot say which one is better than the other as all the food is amazing. The pork chops are so tender and soft you don't need a knife. The ribs are so flavorful you don't even notice the bone. They are served with 3 sides. I chose the green beans, cabbage, and the sweet potatoes that day and no disappointment there as they were just as delicious as the meat. Your meal comes with this sweet/savory corn bread. If you find yourself in need of some home cooked soul food and don't want to cook it yourself, please take yourself to This is it soul food.
