“It was an early Thursday morning in Houston, Texas, and I was craving a kolache. I knew exactly where to go: Shipley Do-nut at Highway 6 North. Shipley Do-nut is a Houston institution, and it's known for its delicious kolaches. They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, but my favorites are the Kolache-Sausage and Cheese and the Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños. I arrived at Shipley Do-nut around 7:30am, and the place was already buzzing. There was a line of people waiting to order, but it moved quickly. I placed my order for a Kolache-Sausage and Cheese and a Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños. The kolaches were freshly made and piping hot out of the oven. They were soft and fluffy on the inside, and the fillings were generous and flavorful. The sausage was juicy and flavorful, and the cheese was melted and gooey. The jalapeños in the Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños added a nice kick of heat. I took a bite of each kolache and was immediately transported to heaven. The flavors were so delicious and comforting. The kolaches were the perfect way to start my day, and they gave me the energy I needed to power through the morning. I highly recommend Shipley Do-nut for anyone looking for a delicious and timely breakfast. The kolaches are delicious and affordable, and the service is always friendly and efficient. “Quaint little coffee shop near Montrose and the fourth ward. It's a little easy to miss while driving as it's in between two other buildings, but look for the large banner (pictured) with Native Coffee logo on the black fence decorated in vines. Parking is also a little tricky. You go slightly past the coffee shop and turn right at the mechanic/body shop. There's free parking in that large parking lot on the right, despite the parking signs threatening to be towed (confirmed by the employee at Native Coffee). Once you walk in, there's a beautiful patio and inside you'll find a clean, small coffee shop that looks newly renovated. The worker was great and I think I might have spotted the owner in the back working on sandwiches. They have a great menu but went basic and got my usual ice vanilla latte. There's roughly 15 tables and plenty of space when I visited. Only downside is that there were only a few outlets I could spot, but not an issue while I was there. Looked like they had a lot of customers from the neighborhood and a few from the car shop. Definitely check it out!”

The sign says 'Under New Management" so I have to base this upon my present experience, and not the previous reviews. Ordered a Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant (Good); Two Cake Donuts (Horrid), but they added the Mini Cinnamon Rolls (Those are the most dangerous mini Cinnamon Rolls I've ever had). The Cinnamon Rolls will get you in trouble, good is not an adequate way to describe them. The Cake Donuts needs a new recipe. The customer service was good.”

“I loved this place ever since I was a kid! I still have fond moments of my parents taking me here and getting me the blueberry donuts before they would take me to daycare. Years lately, I still come back to this place because they have the best donuts, especially their donut holes, I have ever had. The donut holes when you get them fresh are nice and doughy and are such a delicious treat! Their icing isn’t too much where the donut feels too sugary, but it isn’t too little where it feels like you’re eating more dough than actual donut. Then the prices are very fair, as a student still in school, price is very important to me, but with a place like Donut Haven, I don’t have to worry about prices! All in all, I’d say 5 stars, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious donuts!”

I added chicken to my salad and I have to say I was very disappointed in the chicken, it smelled like fish and it had an awful taste to it.
