friendly service and great food
If you feel nostalgic and desperate this would be the place to go. However, there is room for improvement; the meat was too salty, the dough of the Nacatamal was way too oily and salty causing it to break up which appear to be a compensation for a dry dough as if it was messed up and they try to fix it by adding more lard and salt to hide the fact that it was not to taste. The fried soft and hard plantains ( platano maduro y platano Frito) were on point the meat was poor quality and the rice and beans were a little past the proper taste point perhaps I was served last night's Gallo Pinto. The $15 price per plate cannot be justified. Honestly, this is not a very food place or the cook was not feeling well at all when the food was prepared. The Cacao juice and the Maracuya juice were absolutely not good. The Maracuya was so sweet you could not taste the actual fruit due to the amount of sugar. The Cacao had more of a Pinolio taste than anything. If I wanted Pinol I would have ordered Pinol. Overall, I am disappointed and this is one restaurant that I cannot find myself going back to. To call it a Nicaraguan restaurant is more of an insult because it doesn't come anywhere near close to the great tasting Nicaraguan food.
I like this place. This is the only place I found in Texas that comes close to being in Nicaragua. The owner is very friendly and nice. Is in a hidden area but worth the drive for me. I like to order by phone and pick up to go. The drinks also are like Nicaragua. The not so good parts; the place is not so big so the tablets are closer to each other. So if you like your space while you eat with family or friends is not that good. The next table over can clearly hear you.
Food is great that’s all that matters really.
I just love to eat here with my Family . Owner is hilarious and attentive with his customers . I just can't get enough how good is food . Remind me of Nicaragua
Do not expect to eat in a fancy place because it is not the most elegant place. However, great food and service. The closest flavor to Nicaraguan food you can encounter in Texas.
