We had a wonderful experience at Monarca! As per usual, we sat at the bar, which just tends to be more of our vibe. The ambience and decor of this restaurant is absolutely spectacular for dinner, and the service was amazing! We enjoyed a variety of dishes to include their signature fried fish. Everything was good with the best presentation but I do feel some additional seasonings would do a lot of these plates justice. The shrimp churro was lackluster - if you’re going to blend up shrimp and make them into a paste to Fry, you gotta add all the seasonings. I could taste that they were cooked out if that makes sense…we did enjoy the red snapper and absolutely devoured the pickled vegetables on top. special requested string fries were a little bit too stringy, virtually impossible to eat, but that’s what we get for asking for french fries at a Mexican cuisine restaurant. Will definitely be back because the speakeasy wasn’t available while we were there due to a private party which was a little bit disappointing for a new venue but a reason to return!
Sipped on tequila and wine before an amazing meal. The waiter was absolutely wonderful. The service was warm, welcoming and very attentive. Your best bet is to make a dinner reservation. We got lucky and picked up a no show reservation cancellation on a holiday Saturday night for dinner. The guacamole reminded me of real Mexican flavors when we travel to Mexico. The monarca salad is a truly delicious salad. These are the type of salads that bring so many fresh flavors together that you want to order them everytime and feel good eating it too. The roasted chicken in Chile sauce was tender and delicious. We finished our meal with and original tres leches that is truly unique and delicious. We have tried several authentic Mexican restaurants in the area and this one was not only a delicious tres leches but the presentation is one of kind. It has a frozen meringue shell and the cake is infused with a light hint of tequila. We can’t wait to come back.
The only tiny thing was how dark the dining room is. I saw several customers flashing their cellphone lights trying to see the menu at more than one table around us.
Monarca is high end Mexican food done right. I knew that we were going to have a good meal, when I took a bite of the kids tacos (not on the menu) and the tacos were delicious.
Our table had the branzino, esquites, tacos de filete, betabeles asados and queso fundido with chorizo. Each dish was flavorful and tasty. I would say the only downside was the spicy Maracuya was good but wasn’t as spicy as I would’ve wanted.
I would certainly come back!
I would certainly recommend for
Margarita is awesome, chips amazing! Staff are friendly and informative. The speak easy is very nice and quiet. Highly recommend!!
Great option for dinner or drinks or both. FINALLY Mexican food in the area (not tex mex) in a beautiful place with great music!!!!! Definitely a place for date night, dinner with friends. The atmosphere was great, more of a let's eat amazing food and have fun/party vibe=México city style.
Cocktails are different than what you usually find, they were a little on the sweet side for me but the traditional margarita 100/10.
We tried the chori-mussels, esquites, montadito de ribeye, tacos de filete and everything was delicious! No brainer for us, we will definitely be returning 😀
