The best made from scratch menu anywhere. This place has Thebes’s Chicken fried a Steak in TX and banana pudding to die for. The staff is courteous and prompt. Never a bad environment. I have been going for years. My favorite date night. Can’t go wrong.

Excellent chicken fried steak. All the food we ordered was really good home style cooking. Prices were very inexpensive most dinner plates being $10 or so. It was worth the 40min drive. We will be back!

Good food. Good service. People were very nice. Reasonably priced. The only thing I didn't like, was they brought the gravy for our chicken fried steak out with the rolls...about 10 minutes before the entre. Weird. Other than that, no complaints.

My girlfriend I visited this past weekend, they had heard they had the best chicken fried steak in Texas, the chicken fried steak was good, but I don't know about the best, that's a big claim. There was a huge weight or table with others in front of us on a Sunday afternoon, later they ask for us, just giving our table away when her name was called, I wasn't late in answering the call, they were just quick and giving the table away. if they're going to ask people to sit at the bar and they need to come to him when they call a persons name. It's a lot like a cafeteria setting, it's very loud. Wait staff was a very helpful and pleasant along with all the people do they eat there at Goodson's. Mashed potatoes are not good, they put some kind of brown grease in it in your mashed potatoes come out looking brown. The macaroni and cheese it's not good, they water down the cheese to where's there's no taste or bad taste. The okra and the bread is good, nothing special. Prices were decent. I would eat here again, the people are nice, I just wouldn't order the mashed potatoes or the macaroni and cheese again.
