Anchor Bar San Marcos

So grateful Anchor Bar is in San Marcos! I've been to the Schertz & SA locations multiple times. Each time the service & food is fantastic. This one is a new location (August 2022), new staff, & everyone is busting their butt to make the experience memorable.

Also, super impressed to see the owner replying back to every Google Review. That's not common & definitely shows the care and compassion of a local small business owner. Happy to keep supporting local! If you are reading this, go give them a shot!

Excited to have a new restaurant in San Marcos! Traditional Wings were great, crispy, and flavorful. We can wait come back to try more sauces. We had the dry buffalo, golden jerk and my favorite was the Buffalo lemon pepper, that will be hard to beat! Service was on point. Drinks were great!

We’ve been to the Buffalo NY location and it didn’t disappoint. The SM TX location didn’t either. We were seated quickly. Our waiter Joseph was very courteous, funny and treated us as family. The kitchen manager was awesome too. We were able to try sauces before getting them, beer was nice and cold, wings were just as expected! We will definitely be going back.

I was excited to try the restaurant for its variety of menu items. We ended up getting an appetizer sampler and some Anchor Bites that were on special. All of the food was crisp and tasty. The medium buffalo sauce and honey bbq were both nice. The honey BBQ actually a bit of a surprise, I guess it has a nice tang to it. They allowed us to use potato wedges for the load fries portion of our sampler (I was craving wedges). The pizza logs weren't what I envisioned but they were warm and gooey to our liking. Their fried breading in the mozzarella and Mac balls is pretty hearty. Overall it was an enjoyable snack spread. The staff were all pleasant. Our only criticisms were the atmosphere - probably could have been a little darker and for some reason they push their chairs in at angle which created a very disorganized appearance. I don't think it had the intended effect. We'll probably be back some time to try the burgers and pizza, and get some more boneless wings!
