First time I have had a deep dish and I'll definitely have it again. It did take a while for the food to come out but I completely understand that it's because it's made from scratch so I had no problem. And the wait time was worth it. The fettuccine alfredo with chicken was delicious. My daughter had spaghetti with huge meatballs and she loved it as well. The environment was super chill. The music was great, 80s. The staff was super friendly and engaging. The cook even came to check in on us and asked how we liked the pizza!
Scalisi's restaurant is located in the plaza that is just off of Trenton and Main. It's entrance is on the street next to Panda Express that leads to Sam's Club. This is a true Mom and Pop pizzeria because Mom and Pop are there working. I went for take out and ordered the Deep dish Chicago style pizza, lasagna, and a small Greek salad. I was told it would take around 30 minutes for my order to be ready. I don't mind waiting, because I know good food takes time to make, plus this is a deep dish pizza made from scratch. Once I received my order I couldn't wait to get home and get my grub on
I like that the lasagna has black olives and mushrooms, two of my favorites, plus I love lasagna, so it's like three loves in every bite.
The deep dish pizza is the real deal, loaded with lots of cheese and I really liked the chunky tomato sauce. (I also love tomatoes), the Geek salad had all the right components, including two types of olives, greek and black, again I love olives, so it made my salad day. The thing that really surprised me the most was how low the prices are on the menu. The lasagna is way under $10 where most places have it over $10. The same goes for pizza. I look forward to trying the Italian beef sandwich, I wanted to get it but I had my heart set on lasagna and pizza. I recommend this place because it's a real deal with a Mom and Pop feel.
Mushrooms were tasty and crispy, Stromboli was nice and hot and the combo dog was great. Italian beef with spicy sausage.
Ordered a Stromboli to go for lunch as I was next door getting a haircut. Wait staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Ordered was put together quickly without much of a wait. The Stromboli is one of the best if not the best I have had in South Texas. The fresh ingredients made a huge difference in the overall flavor of the Stromboli. It also was served with a great sauce and the cheese was tops also. I definitely recommend this place as I will certainly be returning.
The food was so good! Customer service was excellent! Only downfall was my card was being “ disabled “ by the system when it worked absolutely fine. The pizza size is small but reason is it I’d deep dished with 2 inches of cheese and toppings! Price was a bit expensive but the flavor and the cheese pull of the pizza was so worth it! The salad was good too, chicken was a bit salty. Garlic bread wouldn’t recommend the sauce was piping hot so be careful. I thought it was smaller but it was big 4 slices. It is good area and something new to try!
