The Smoking Oak

I arrived after 5:00pm on a week day and NO ONE was around. It thought that they had sold out until someone told me that they had opened for dinner. The place was absolutely empty and no one waiting for food. I knew I was in trouble: a BBQ place with no line is a warning sign. True to form, the food wasn't something to rave about. The pork ribs were a definite pass. They were smothered with sauce to make up for other challenges. The brisket was slightly better. The beans tasted good, so there was that. The creamed corn broke my rule that I've never found creamed corn that I didn't like. Maybe it's better for lunch. I recommend trying it during a weekend or lunch, but this wasn't for me.

Great place ...the brisket was very juicy (and it was considered a lean cut). The BBQ sauce was just perfect...not too spicy...not too sweet. Try the Pork Ribs.. they literally fell off the bone!!!! Will definitely be coming back. The place is clean..and we'll ventilated. Also, try the potato salad...it is also a great side! The price is very reasonable... we were surprised with our family meal ticket 60% of what we usually pay.

Smoking Oak was great! Ordered the brisket burger. The meat was moist, tender and delicious! If you see the pic the meat had a nice smoke ring....returned for more recently... Thursday during lunch. Ordered chicken, ribs and brisket. All three meats were served in short order, all meats were delicious!
