I’m not usually a fan of old bed and breakfast type hotels because many times they’re so authentic that they’re outdated and smelly. This place has been redone beautifully! Most of the character has been preserved and yet it is clean and modernized for your comfort. Lots of history and close enough to walk to downtown. Highly recommend.

Go to their website and check this place out! The pics on Google are prior to renovation. It's beautiful and the perfect space as a venue! Brittany and Chuck are the most genuinely kind, accommodating hosts.

    Hello friends,

I wanted to share the great experience Jo Anne, and I had at the Dabbs Hotel in Llano, TX. We were provided the opportunity by the new owners, Brittany and Chuck Baker, to have a special catered dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

As we entered the hotel, you could feel the fresh and welcoming atmosphere of the historic building overlooking the Llano River. The owner, Chuck, greeted us with a warm, hospitable demeanor and guided us to the dining area that was simple but elegant. White table cloths, crystal vases with a beautiful rose arrangement, and gold chargers adorned the tables.

The Dabbs Hotel’s dining area is situated so that you can watch the sun setting behind the iconic Roy B. Inks Bridge over the Llano River. Watching the big orange sun setting over the river with the 1936 bridge silhouetted in the foreground is an image that I never get tired of seeing.

The warm and attentive service was just right for a romantic dinner with my Sweetie. The evening started with a complimentary glass of very nice Mumm Champagne and Jumbo Shrimp with a classic cocktail sauce presented in a large rimmed glass. The shrimp was just right, and the sauce paired very nicely with the Mumm Champagne.

The next course was a mixed spinach salad, leafy greens, candied pecans, avocado, dried cranberries, and tender cherry tomatoes. All tossed in a delicious creamy vinaigrette dressing topped with crumbled feta cheese. The flavors excited the taste buds in my mouth that made me feel like a flavor party was happening inside.

Served next were the Braised Short Ribs presented on top of infused creamy corn grits. The large portioned short ribs were tender and were complemented by the creamy corn grits. The infusion for the grits consisted of Andouille sausage and creamy corn.
Served with the main course were sautéed Brussel Sprouts with a bacon butter jam presented in a small hot cast iron skillet. Now, I’m not a big lover of Brussel Sprouts, but these had been cooked to be tender and very flavorful. I think I do like Brussel Sprouts! During this course, we selected the Freak Show Cabernet Sauvignon that also paired nicely with the flavors of the short ribs, infused creamy corn grits, and sautéed Brussel Sprouts.

The final submission for this special dinner was one I tend to judge the entire meal by, and this course did not disappoint. A warm Red Velvet Brownie iced in white, with a Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and hand-whipped cream, laced with a chocolate drizzle and a pair of chocolate-dipped strawberries, confirmed that we had made the right choice to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Dabbs Hotel.

As I understand it, the menu was the vision of Brittany, which iconic local chef/caterer David Griffith masterfully executed. David’s humble nature leads him only to accept the title of cook, but for this event, David knocked it out of the park with the flavors and the presentation that places him at the top with renowned chefs in Texas.
I couldn’t help but feel that all of the folks I know who were not there for this special dinner had truly missed out on one of the finest dining experiences we have had since we moved to Llano ten years ago.

Thank you to Brittany, Chuck, and Chef David for a wonderful romantic culinary experience. We can’t wait until next time.
    Bon Appetit,
    Bobby
