Mixed Review!
I’m from Kansas City area & I feel we have some of the best BBQ on this planet. So I’m always excited to try another areas BBQ.
I’m going to brake this review down by stars, 1-5 with 5 stars being the best!
Atmosphere ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It has a pretty cool vibe & had clean restrooms inside. Much bigger than what it looks like from outside. In need of updating & it feels like a BBQ restaurant that wants to be a sports bar, the tables & chairs could use some updating. But overall pretty pleasant.
Staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They were nice enough, diffidently some uniforms would help with identifying the staff.
So I had the Freto Pie & a Pulled Pork Sandwich.
Freto Pie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was good, wish the serving size was more for the price. Eat it fast because your freto’s turn to much pretty quick. The Brisket not good! The sausage was amazing!
Brisket sandwich ⭐️⭐️
Two stars may be generous. The meat is over chopped & has no flavor. It could of been Walmart chuck for all I know. The spicy pickles is what even gives it a few stars. Differently not winning any brisket awards any time soon.
BBQ Sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They should have bottles of this for sale!!
Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just squeeze them into 4 out of 5 stars. I think if they fixed the brisket they could be 5 out of 5 stars pretty quick.
You know when you are at the right place when you pull up and see nothing but construction vehicles parked outside. I had the 2 meat plate. I selected sliced brisket, and sausage. With potato salad and coleslaw.
The flavor of the brisket was amazing. Great smoke ring, and the seasoning was on point. When you pulled the brisket it had a good pull, and broke cleanly. The sausage had jalapenos in it. They weren't too hot, and had great flavor. The cherry cobbler was amazing.
I definitely recommend this place. I have been here several times, and the quality has been great every time.
Stopped by for lunch and got the Eddie experience. Yes another plastic fork joint but the sliced brisket was tender & delicious. Beans had a little too much black pepper seasoning in them but I gobbled it up. Slaw was good. I'll be back my next trip thru Lubbock, closed on Mondays, hours 10:30 to 2:30. A+++
Probably the best BBQ brisket I have ever eaten. And I got it on a frito pie. It was delicious. The sausage however was a little spicy, not too much for my liking but know that if you are a fan of sausage at places such as this, it was considerably more spicy than other places I’ve tried recently. But the brisket had a subtle sweetness that made it absolutely delicious, didn’t even need to add any sauce over top of it. The dining area was clean, the tables were wiped off and clean and the atmosphere was nice, cool and quintessentially Texan. I slashed one star off the score because the lady who took my order was not particularly friendly especially for them not being particularly busy. Otherwise if you’re looking for some good wholesome BBQ with a nice “hole in the wall,” Texan feel, look no further!
