When traveling, I'm always looking for the sometimes hidden or unknown treasures. This place is definitely a treasure! Upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by friendly service and smiles. Soft jazz was playing and the tables were decorated as this was Mother's Day weekend. The aroma of fresh homemade cooking filled the air. We were seated quickly and service was prompt. I ordered the baked chicken, homemade red beans and cabbage. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Probably the best baked chicken I have ever had. The meal was complete after trying their fresh peach cobbler! Dee-licious! Stop by, say hello, and stay for some homemade southern cooking!

Passing thru Waco looking for a good place to eat, well we certainly found the right place. Food was very good, smothered pork chops were AMAZING! Best blacked eyed peas I have ever eaten at restaurant, tasted like home cooking. Staff was very friendly & effecient. Will stop again next time I am near Waco. Thanks for having us.

OMGoodness! If you love real southern food EAT HERE! Today we had smothered pork chops, oxtails, cabbage, carrots, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes... DELICIOUS!! And then banana pudding and peach cobbler for dessert! My tummy is full and extremely happy!

Just went to eat the for the first time since they moved to the new location. The standards have definatly dropped. The chicken was a little dry, corn bread had a funny taste, and the sweet tea only comes with lemon juice (but is very good). The dining area was very loud with some show one of the men was sitting at watching. The cabbage was probably the best I've ever had though and the peach cobbler was very good as well.

We found this little gem through search of best restaurants near me. It came up in the top 5 and we had a craving for home style cooking. We drove over and at first we drove right past it looking for a place to park. We circled the block and found a spot right at the door. If it is busy you will probably need to park curbside. On Sunday, they do a service line and you tell the gentleman what meat and sides you want. He piles it on so bring your appetite. We got the fried chicken, yams, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice. It was all very tasty. The owner came over and greeted us and we had a very pleasant discussion. The servers were smiling and friendly. They were also serving mustard greens, cabbage, mac & cheese, meat loaf, and ox tails. For awhile we were the only Anglo's in the place but we were welcomed like family. The owner thanked us for coming in to her little place and asked us to come back. I would like to go back on a Friday because they serve BBQ and fried catfish in the serving line.
