The food was comparable to that of a rainforest cafe. It was just very standard American fare chain food. I give it 3 stars for the atmosphere and service. We sat outside for a great view of the lake. Now for the food, we ordered the ceviche and it was not prepared correctly, I could tell the shrimp was very much boiled because it had no lime flavor whatsoever. Ordered burger and wings as well and they were very sub par. Ordered tranquil waters specialty cocktail and it tasted like gatorade, super weak drink. Everything is very expensive but that’s expected with a restaurant in a tourist resort. Our server was very friendly and so was the host staff.

What a treat this weekend of the 4th! Beautiful, comfortable and clean! The food was delicious and the customer service was impeccable. Mark the manager was more than accommodating and made us feel so welcome. 5 stars isn’t enough! Great experience on the lake!

I know, I know. There's no way this super-commercial, corporate-committee-created, fake as plastic wood place can be any good, right?
    Wrong.
I admit, I committed a cardinal sin of reviewing and arrived with preconceptions. Big ones. I'd read the prior reviews, and am already predisposed to dislike major chains with plastic logos. I'd even tried to get in when it first opened by boat and was turned away by their failure to dredge the areas in front of the docks. So I was prepared to let these guys have it...
But..it's kinda nice! The reception area is big, bright, and open, the colors are soothing and irrepressably beachy, and the young ladies working there could not be nicer, facemasks and all.
I got a table right where I asked for it, with a big window looking out on the water, my Arnold Palmer came quickly, and the music was just what you'd expect, and loud but not too.
I was alone so could only try two dishes, the shrimp ceviche ($13) and the fish & chips ($19). Both were quite good - not fine dining quality but well above your typical bar food or tourist trap. The ceviche was some of the best I've had recently, and the fish & chips were done just right. The fries were crisp and the white fish was fresh and tender, battered well and clearly fried in fresh oil. For dipping it came with jalapeno tartar sauce which was surprisingly good - bright complex flavor, and a great match for the fish.
The lone misstep was their cocktail sauce, which I requested specially to try with the fish. It was a bland and watery version of ketchup, with just a hint of horseradish. I asked the waiter if this came from HQ in a big jug or if they made it up on the spot, and she said they make it up when it's ordered. So, someone needs a lesson.
    But I digress...
Expensive? Yes, it is. Let's face it, $32 for a lunch app and entree, before drinks, tip, and tax, is pretty steep for Montgomery County. It's on par with Monty's, which is also surprisingly good, so maybe you just get what you pay for now at these lakefront places. You want cheaper, go to Papa's or Wolfie's, where you'll pay far less and regret it. I'd rather do this.
If you're coming by boat, a word about the docks. When I first tried to float in three weeks ago my depth finder started pinging as soon as I got close and I couldn't get within 20' of the closest dock. I asked my waiter about that and she said they dredged all last week and are hoping to keep the whole area in front of the restaurant at 5 feet. We'll see. In the 90 minutes I was there today no new boats arrived, but I did see two further down the dock. Also, these are the shortest docks on Lake Conroe. I'm not sure how you'll tie up a boat that's over 22'. The answer is usually to back in but in water this shallow I can't recommend it. Looks like we'll be coming the long way by car, but that's going to cut our visits by 90%.
But hey, this is a restaurant review, and this restaurant is pretty good. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu, it all sounds delicious. See my pictures for the menus and some looks at the place.
Bottom line, it's very nice inside and out, the food's pretty good, the people are really nice, and I'm sure we'll be back.
