Great food and service. Quick stop on the drive from Dallas to Houston. Definitely wish there was one in San Antonio. Would easily become a habitual stop.

This was my first visit to a Cotton Patch Cafe. It was about 8pm on a Wednesday. We were hungry and ready to eat after a long drive. I ordered the smothered ground beef, green beans, and cinnamon apples. My wife ordered the chicken and mac skillet with no onions. After a long wait, the food arrived via a different waiter. My green beans magically turned into a bowl of terrible macaroni and cheese. Flavorless pasta goo. Don't get me wrong. I love mac and cheese. But this resembled a roux that had no cheese flavor. All glue. Her meal arrived topped with a generous helping of green onions covering the top. After picking off the green layer, we ate. Finally our waiter returned, thinking we were going to say how wonderful things were. That is when we let him know how great things weren't. Dumbfounded, he took the tested bowl of mac and yuck and rushed off to get my green beans.
All things said, the place was clean, the prices were good, and the selection was excellent. But the service was average at best, the accuracy was sub par, and the macaroni and cheese was pitiful. Oddly enough, best thing I ate was those late arriving green beans. As of yet. I am not a fan of Cotton Patch Cafe. That may change, but I am not in any hurry for a redo.

Fast friendly service and a GREAT salad. This was the strawberry pecan upgraded with g rilled shrimp. So good I ate it for supper one night then came back for lunch the NEXT day and had it again.... I always enjoy all the cotton patch restaurants around East Texas. Never been here or at any of them late so no idea if they turn into a "Bar" setting cause they sell booze but day time there always a good place to bring the family. Clean rest rooms and good parking all at a great price. I will continue to eat here.

What a happy surprise. Normally we don't eat at chain restaurants, but we thought we'd try the CP. Open and welcoming decor. Staff friendly. Our Waiter was charming and knowledgeable. He suggested the Cajun duo, and we split this dish w an added salad. We also ordered a cup of chicken and dumplings. The dumplings were too mushy fore but the taste of dish was pretty good. We both loved the duo dish. Whitefish/shrimp over rice and a side of broccoli. Large portion, easily split. The veg was crisp and not overcooked. All an A+...
