I ate dinner at dragon fly last Saturday. When we arrived into the restaurant no really greeted us. None of the employees wore a mask or gloves (post Covid reopening).Although we were a bit early for our reservation they eventually said they could seat us but there would be a delay for food. Ten minutes after we sat down the waiter finally came to take our drink order. At this time I let him know that I had specific food sensitivities. I asked him what on the menu he could suggest and he was not helpful at all. He said “I dont know what you can eat on menu.” He got our drink order and came back for our food order. Once again I asked what options the restaurant had for me. He pondered on it for a while, meanwhile embarrassing my friends who had spoken very highly of this restaurant when recommending it. Finally he suggested the daily special. Our party dropped $250 on this meal, you would think that at the very the least a waiter would be familiar with the menu and know how to accommodate someone with special needs. The only reason I am giving Dragon Fly 3 stars and not 2 is because the food was good & the waiter finally came through in the end.
We had an AMAZING time. Brandon our server was knowledgeable kind polite and checked on us just enough. The food was incredible. It was clear from the dishes that chef truly cares about what he’s producing. The silence of the lamb (shank) was melt in your mouth delicious. The gnocchi was soft and tender and perfectly seasoned. The drum and shrimp were perfectly cooked. Took home some creme brûlée for breakfast...
I really really like this place. We were here on a Saturday night for a date night. The food was fabulous and only reason I am giving this a 4 is because the service was slow. Not because they were not attentive, but because they did not have enough staff - so, things took a lot longer that normal. The goat cheese bread/toast was incredible.
The food was outstanding, as was our server. The ambiance was great. So why not a five star? Well the bartender was yelling at a loud voice to the cooks and to the server. It was terribly distracting and a little unnerving. They could not accept credit cards the night we were there. So maybe a bad night, or just a bad bartender.
