I got the 2 meat plate. It was a little on the pricey side at $18. Brisket and ribs both had good smoke ring and flavor but both dry. Did not like their BBQ sauce at all. Very watery and way too sweet. Good spice kick though. And both beans and potato salad were on the bland side. And to top it all off, Kitchen service was very slow. Doubt if I'll go back.

Salty Oak is on the right path to being really good BBQ. This is mostly due to the quality of the food and friendly service. You are given a full tray with a good balanced presentation. They have everything you would expect for enjoying good smoked meat. Their smokey sweet vinegary sauce is different than what you normally get in South Texas. The moist brisket falls apart with a nice bark. The meat easily pulls of the pork ribs. They have all the standard sides. The only real challenge Salty Oak has is location. Their current location doesn't really accommodate large numbers. Also it took a little longer than expected to receive our food, but this is probably due to limitations of the location. Don't let this deter you from experiencing some good BBQ. This is one BBQ foodie that will be going back.

Best local BBQ spot by far. Make sure you make it there before they run out and you won't regret it.

Get there early. Opens at 11 until Sold Out. I’m from Austin and this is hands down the best BBQ I’ve tried outside of my city limits! Fall off the bone pork ribs. Juicy brisket with the right amount of fat included! And those kolache desert things... I’m gonna need that recipe ASAP! Y’all, this is a good, down home place with some pretty cool people working it. Chef came to our table just to see how it was! That’s rare. We will be back every time we’re here. Thanks y’all! P.S. I’m 7 months pregnant so I know good food if it stays down! Haha

This place is the best! Was so glad I found them way back when they were just a corner place inside somewhere else. So glad they have their own spot! Great food and service as always!! Highly recommend. Seriously ho try it!
