Sumo Japanese Steakhouse

YAAAAASSSS while I was passing through Amarillo TX tired from diving and not enough energy to put pants on and go out for dinner. I ordered enough food for an entire family and Sumo did not disappoint !!

In the top of best ramen I have had around the world.

Even will delivery the presentation stayed nice and the quality of the food was not noticeable.

If I ever pass through town again, I will be placing a family size order for 1 again

The food tasted great the surroundings were great and the wait staff were friendly and polite. However our main course came out very staggered and mine wasn’t particularly hot. I also think they should work on the availability of different non alcoholic drinks. Despite any of that I did enjoy the meal.

My fiancé and I came here to eat hoping to get some good quality sushi with great variety. We started with the soup (which was on the house) and ordered four rolls: The Alaskan Roll, The Sumó Roll, The Dynamite Roll and The Californian Roll. I think out of of the four rolls we tried, the dynamite roll was the best. We really liked the presentation and the taste of the sushi. The staff is very friendly and accommodating of us while we were there. Although I we really enjoyed our time there, we only have a couple of criticisms that we hope get worked out by the time we return:

1. We hope that they can hire and bring in help to make sushi. Our visit was roughly a 2 hour dinner because the sushi took a very long time to make for everyone.
2. We hope that they can eventually serve alcohol even if it’s just beer. The restaurant is BYOB which is fine if you like that sort of thing. We would’ve hoped to have some beer options both domestic and maybe even some Japanese beers to try.

Overall, we will definitely return to try some good sushi and immerse ourselves in the soothing environment that this place provides for its customers.

I like their gyoza. I'm not a fan of their egg or spring rolls.

The presentation is nice. The service is good. The food is fresh. It's a pleasant dining experience.

It's not my favorite fried rice. (I prefer and recommend Bangkok Tokyo's.)

My friend who is a native Taiwanese says their ramen reminds her of home.

I've liked the sushi rolls tried so far.

My recommendation: Give it a try.

1st time eating there. Very relaxed atmosphere and they had a great sushi selection. There was only one waiter but he did a great job! Definitely will be going back
