Villa Montez

This place has very great Mexican food! The chimichangas are phenomenal and they are my favorite here! And I love how you can take pictures outside with a nice view!

The food we ordered was fantastic and the service was great. They were very attentive and willing to cater to my friends gluten allergy. Though there weren’t too many options for her she did end up finding something she really loved. We were seated upstairs which initially didn’t have many people so it was really quiet. It does seem that that’s where they seat larger groups so it did get noisy later but nothing that really bothered me. Their drinks were also fantastic.

I will start off by saying we went here on a Friday and had reservations for 7:00pm, we arrived at 6:50 but we were not say at a table until almost 7:50 or so. It honestly felt pointless to have a reservation. We did get a couple drinks at the bar while waiting which helped the wait time. Once we were sat, the service was very prompt and we got our food in good time. We shared and appetizer of the Chino Latino Rolls which were very good, along with we both ordered a cup of the Brazilian Coconut Soup which was amazing! Our main courses were really good which was the Margarita Shrimp and Baja Chicken Pasta. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted great in the sauce, the pasta was great as well but a little spicy but tolerable. We had a couple more drink with dinner but we did not get dessert. This is a great place for a celebration or date. But can be a little loud sometimes. I would go back but hopefully the reservations and when you are sat improves.

Best restaurant in the Tyler area by far! The food is amazing and a great value. The owner is a great guy and all the staff are extremely friendly. Mundo worked with us for our rehearsal dinner and he even gave me a shirt one time when I didn't meet the dress code.

Villa Montez is housed in an older Tyler mansion that sits atop a hill. It is not Tex Mex but more Cali Mex. The food is good and the atmosphere is good. They use fresh ingredients and herbs they grow on site. This is not a great place is your mobility is limited. The parking lot and extra parking is somewhat steep because of being on a hill. And there are steps throughout the building.
