It’s a quick-service restaurant (better than fast food but no server to tip). I had the pulled pork nachos (a little spicy but not too much) and a self-serve small fountain drink (i.e., free refills). I enjoyed it all.

While on a layover I decided to try Salt Lick. I chose the chopped brisket with baked beans. The beans had an interesting flavor at first but became bland too quickly. The chopped brisket didnt disappoint with the subtle flavor barbecue sauce. The sauce cup had the distinct texas sauce I remember that paired well. It's good in a pinch. Try it when you're going through Dallas Fort Worth airport

While on my layover, I gave The Salt Lick a try. Decided on the brisket nachos and a Coke Zero. The brisket was bland and the sauce they used seemed like a cheap barbecue sauce. The chips were crispy but thin. The drink wasn’t very cold. The only reason I gave this place a 3star was because of the service. They were all smiling and very helpful. I don’t know that I would try this place again.

The special of the day was sausage sandwich, a side and a drink for $10.99. Since I was in the midst of a very unexpected double delayed layover, and clutching a $12!!!!! Food voucher for the inconvenience, well, I decided to ball out and order the brisket sandwich instead and pay the $5.96 difference. It was a worthy choice. Brisket is my favorite non-burnt-ends BBQ meal, and this didn't disappoint. Yes, perhaps I've had better in my lifetime but this was very good in it's own right. It was not cold, it was not dry, it was not skimpy, the BBQ beans were also excellent. I wasn't even overly hungry, it was just legitimately tasty and perfect. The staff were also extremely pleasant and helpful. The manager saw me looking over the bottled beer selection because I collect bottle caps, and as I was eating my meal, she brought me an array of caps to take. I thoroughly enjoyed my pick-me-up lunch and will target this as a lunch destination next time through town.
