Cousins will always be my home BBQ. No matter where I go, compare it to Cousins. I ate Cousins when I was a child, and grew up knowing 'boots' He came to my Eagle Scout court of honor, and was there for me when I got out of the Army when I was struggling. I could always pass the Bryant Irvin one and he would help me out with a plate from now and then. His words and wisdom are ones I will never forget.
The BBQ is straight forward and too the point, it is no frills and nothing special. I say that because with all the bbq joints that we have in TX, Cousins BBQ is simply put the way bbq should be, there is no fat in the brisket, the chopped beef is perfect; not to chunky, not mushy a perfect blend, lean and not chewy, the sausage is delicious and the chicken is simple and tastes amazing. The Spud topped with Beef or straight forward is amazing.
All of the sides are amazing, Cole slaw is the best I've ever had, either of the beans are top notch, the corn cobs are top notch, the fruit in the summer is the best and I could eat a tray of cobbler.
This is all said because I don't live near a cousins anymore and as a child there was nothing I would not eat. The BBQ joints I have near me, my kids won't touch a thing they have to offer.
Delicious barbecue, friendly employees and a fun, casual atmosphere. Called in a take-out order and had no problems, food was fresh and ready to go. Just as delicious at home!
